Business Exit & Sale Tax Planning

Tax and accounting support for business owners preparing for a future sale, transfer or exit, helping identify relevant tax and accounting matters before a proposed transaction.

Service overview

Selling or transferring a business is usually a significant event, and the tax position can depend on decisions made well before a sale takes place. This service is for business owners who would like to understand the tax and accounting matters that may be relevant to a future sale, transfer or exit.

At Accountant Bookkeeping Ltd, we provide business exit and sale tax planning for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies throughout Bournemouth, Dorset, London and across the UK. We review the business's accounting and tax position, identify matters that may need attention and explain the tax considerations that may apply to a proposed transaction.

The work is preparatory. It focuses on the position of the business, the structure and ownership of the shares or business interests, and the records that a buyer or their advisers are likely to examine. Where an identified matter requires further work, we explain what is involved.

We work within current UK tax legislation and established tax principles, and we do not promote or recommend tax avoidance arrangements. Transactions often involve other professional advisers, and where a matter goes beyond our professional scope we will say so and explain what further advice may be needed. As an AAT Licensed Accountant, we provide our services with transparent fixed-fee pricing and no VAT charged on our fees.
